The Most Holy Eucharist

The Catholic Church serves the world in many ways. None of these services, though, can even compare to the worth of the Holy Eucharist administered in the Mass. Unfortunately, most people in today’s world do not appreciate or acknowledge their dependence upon this sacrament. Many do not even understand exactly what it is or what it does for us.
The Eucharist is the greatest of the seven sacraments. This is because when we receive it we not only receive a renewal of our sanctifying grace and the importation of its sacramental grace, but the actual source of grace, Jesus Christ himself! In the Eucharist Christ is truly and wholly present; body, blood, soul, and divinity. This should be overwhelming. God, the all-knowing, the all-powerful, the all-good, the ever-present, allows us to consume him!
