Sacred Honor

One of our founding fathers, Joseph Addison, once said, “Better to die ten-thousand deaths than bruise my sacred honor.” From this we can see just how much honor has been historically valued. The definition of honor is essentially a high level of respect given to one because of his or her deeds, achievements, or personality. To be honored is to hold a certain dignity and even a sense of loftiness. This definition by no means created itself. No, its meaning has evolved over years and years of influence in society.
