America, America
Whose Honor was highest,
Whose purpose was fairest,
Whose freedoms were right and good.
What has become of you?
Oh, my sweet America
Where has thy greatness been lost to?
Where is the beauty of your name?
The blackness of pleasure is upon you
And it has stained your truth.
Oh, America, America!
Your virtue has become a vice.
And your vice is adorned as virtue
Your young have been slaughtered
Your old have been neglected.
Your beginnings have been forgotten,
And been deformed for evil deeds.
America, my greatest joy
Repent and chasten your ways
Make great what you have long believed
Give God a place in your hearts.
My America, my sweet America!

Among those goods, life occupies the first place. The Church defends the right to life, not only in regard to the majesty of the Creator, who is the first Giver of this life, but also in respect of the essential good of the human person”;
