“From the moment of conception and through all stages, all human life is sacred, for it is created in the image and likeness of God. Human life is precious because it is a gift of God, whose love knows no limit; and when God gives life, it is forever. Whoever attempts to destroy human life in the womb of the mother, not only violates the sacredness of a living, growing and developing human being, and thus opposes God, but also attacks society by ignoring respect for all human life. “If a person’s right to life is violated at the moment in which he is first conceived in his mother’s womb, an indirect blow is struck also at the whole moral order, which serves to ensure the inviolable goods of man. Among those goods, life occupies the first place. The Church defends the right to life, not only in regard to the majesty of the Creator, who is the first Giver of this life, but also in respect of the essential good of the human person”;

Where to Point the Finger

When we are young, a typical response when we are caught doing something wrong is that “it’s not my fault”. When we grow older, instead of dropping the habit, we usually find new ways of saying it; more sophisticated and convincing ways of lifting the blame off our shoulders. No matter what we say or how we say it, though, it is still our fault, and is our responsibility to be accountable.
This brings about the necessity of understanding “fault”. Fault is defined as “responsibility for [a] mistake or offense; culpability”. So basically, if I did it, it’s my fault.

Responsibility of a Catholic Citizen

“Be not afraid!” These three simple words were Pope John Paul’s first as the official Bishop of Rome. If we allow them, they can stir our hearts, and even move mountains. By saying this, the pope means to tell us that in our daily routines we are to go forth living our lives in the truth that God gives us. No matter what happens God will be watching over us.
